the deduction.
Form
1098T
This form is used for tuition reporting for the Hope and Lifetime
Scholarship benefits. It is accessible on the web at TCRS
or can be mailed by TCRS (Tax Credit Reporting Service), our
Form 1098T provider. Electronic form delivery is available
and consent for this feature can also be given at
TCRS. (After
Access My Record, click Receive 1098-T Forms Electronically.) The 1098T is filed with the IRS form 8863. Please look at the instructions included with this form for further information regarding these tax credits.
Our office
is responsible for furnishing this information and reporting
it to the federal government. We generate 1098T
forms for U.S. citizens and nonresident eligible aliens who
attended
Caltech half-time or more between January 1 and December 31
and whose tuition amount was more than aid received. We
will also manually prepare a form for non-citizens
who request it. Although we are unable to give tax advice,
the IRS website below can be very helpful for you to determine
if you qualify for the tax benefit.
