Students
may receive outside scholarships from a variety of sources
such as federal or state agencies, civic organizations, religious
groups, companies etc. Since these types of scholarships are
usually solicited or initiated by students themselves, Caltech
is not always aware of the particular scholarship process,
requirements or stipulations they may have. It is therefore
important that the students initiate and complete the process
in a timely manner so that the scholarship organization remits
the funds. Some scholarship requirements may be proof of registration,
a certain grade point average or specific areas of study.
Students receiving financial aid should inform the Caltech
Financial
Aid Office of any pending outside scholarships.
Students
may have the scholarship checks mailed directly to Bursar's
Office, there they are credited to the student's personal
account. However, please note, when scholarship checks contain
funds for the entire academic year, unless otherwise stipulated,
the amount is disbursed in equal amounts for each term.
It is
advisable to periodically check your account to make sure
the outside scholarship has been applied. Should there be
questions or problems, e-mail edna.castro@caltech.edu.
