Current Students

During the online entrance counseling, borrower references are required. Please note you cannot use current students, parents, and immediate family at the same home address as yourself. (Suggestions on who you can use as a reference: Aunts, Uncles, Teachers, Married couples just know that they are considered as one reference, someone close who will be in contact with you for the next 10+ years, if none of these are applicable ask your parents for a reference).

For Federal Stafford Loans (Subsidized and Unsubsidized) an Entrance Counseling Quiz at http://lo-online.ed.gov/entrance_counseling needs to be completed for first time borrowers. After completion of the quiz, you need to inform Juana Turcios juana.turcios@caltech.edu who will then retrieve the quiz results and place it in the borrower's file.

If you have any questions regarding your student loan or deferments (In-School, Economic Hardship, Forbearance, Cancellations, etc.) please contact Abby Gosalvez at christian.gosalvez@caltech.edu or ACS (formerly AFSA) directly at (800) 432-2372 or access their website ACS Educational Services. If your loan is in repayment and you are unable to make your monthly or quarterly payments, you can also contact Abby Gosalvez. She will assist you in determining whether you are eligible for an Economic Hardship or a Forbearance deferment. She can also help you out with a temporary payment plan.

For Federal Direct loans you can contact the Department of Education Direct Loan Servicing Center (800) 848-0979 or their website at www.dl.ed.gov
